Washington NC Civic Center Wedding : Elyse + Patrick
Of all the students at East Carolina University, she stood out. Initially, it was only because of her big hair that annoyed him on the first day of class. He found himself sitting behind her in their South African History course and couldn't see around it. However, fate intervened as the first few weeks of classes passed and he found himself needing the textbooks to study. She had them and they began to study together, he bartered his cooking skills for use of the books. As they began to spend more time with one another, Pat quickly realized exactly what it was about her that stood out. She was unapologetically Elyse. Quirky, nerdy, loving, caring, genuinely kind, and simply amazing.
A friendship quickly developed.
She was slightly attracted to his southern charm, tough exterior and sense of humor. She thought, "there's no way he'd be interested in a girl like me...", so she quickly dismissed any idea of them possibly dating. She didn't want to ruin their strong friendship so as their years in undergrad passed so did many opportunities to become involved romantically.
Fate had intervened once again when they were hired to teach at the same school in the Fall of 2011 and in a few short months, they had began dating. Pat grew tired of thinking "this girl is out of my league" and asked Elyse out for their first date. A birthday celebration on a night of dancing and meeting her friends turned into a magical moment on a warm summer night underneath a streetlight where they shared their first kiss. On a fall night in October — during the Rhodo Tournament — in front of a few hundred people at one of the campfire meetings, Pat nervously sank to one knee and asked Elyse to spend the rest of her life with him. She effortlessly and cheerfully agreed.
She has so much style.
For a split second, you'd think they were twins. Elyse's aunt and big sister helped her get ready for her big day.
They decided to keep things traditional and decided not to see each other before the ceremony. Instead they opted to do a "first touch" and it was such a sweet moment.
Nothing proves that you love someone more than when you mention them in your prayers. Needless to say, Elyse's girls love her to pieces.
Their ceremony was truly heartwarming. When you're in the presence of true love, you just feel it. There weren't many dry eyes as they were exchanging their vows. Yeah... I cried too.
Her bridesmaids were just as beautiful inside as they are outside.
His groomsmen all looked like they stepped off the cover of GQ magazine. They were such a fun group of guys.
Elyse was such a stunning bride.
Pat, can we find you a modeling agency already. Headshots on me.
20 of the most amazing people you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting.
The love between a father and his daughter is forever.
Men are what their mothers make them, and she made him phenomenal.
