Lisa O | UNC Class of 2014

Almost 8 years ago I wandered into my first Marching Band rehearsal at Farmville Central High School. A bit weary of change, I had to take on the daunting task of meeting new people and making new friends. A Georgia native, I was new to the state and school. Luckily, I knew at least one person, Keisha, who introduced me to people that I now hold as some of my closest friends. There was Tasha, Brittany, Emily, Tilisha and -- the freshman and youngest in the group -- Lisa.

She was a giant in a tiny frame.

Lisa and I grew indescribably close as the years carried on. I've watched Lisa transition from a little freshman girl into a beautiful and strong woman. She's one of my best friends so needless to say, I was more than excited to travel to UNC do her senior portraits.

Time has truly flown. I remember her graduation from FCHS and her first year at UNC just as if it were yesterday. It was bittersweet. I was so sad that my best friend was moving away to attend school but so happy for her to be beginning a new chapter in her life. Since Lisa has allowed me into her life and heart, she's always been there for me through my tough times and I've done the same for her. I am truly appreciative of our friendship. Her huge heart and understanding makes it that much more amazing.

Lisa has worked so incredibly hard during her years in Undergrad. She is a member of the Omega Iota Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Lisa, I know this is an emotional time for you as you close yet another chapter in your life and prepare to open up another, but I wish you all the success in the world. I can honestly say that you've left your mark on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Congratulations, best friend.
