Cherish Each Moment

Life is just so short. Recently, it seems that a lot of people that I know are losing their loved ones. For the past few weeks every time I scroll through my Facebook News Feed I'm seeing an update of condolences from a family friend or close acquaintance. As I read through the comments my heart grows increasingly heavy. They're flooded with happy memories of their lost ones.
I couldn't imagine losing another one of my family members. In 2012, I lost both my grandmother and brother-in-law to cancer, it was one of the toughest times in my life because for the longest I hadn't had to deal with death -- as there were none in my immediate family. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about the both of them and how much they've impacted my life -- they both were incredibly strong.

I remember all of the summer afternoons I spent on my grandmother's front porch swing and how she would burden herself with worry if I would swing too high. I remember the spring and fall park visits with my brother-in-law and sister -- where I first learned to fly a kite. I remember the adventures with my cousins in my grandmothers backyard. I miss the sloppy cheek kissies and cooking on the grill, just because. I miss all of the time we spent together and I cherish each and every moment.

I urge you all to value your relationships and each moment you spend with your loved ones because you will never know when your last moments will be. To all of you who have lost someone close to you, hold on tight to your memories and remember the beauty in life.

Let me sleep, for my soul is intoxicated with love. Let me rest, for my spirit has had it's bounty of days and nights.
