There's A Gift In Giving
Life moves so fast sometimes, that we forget the little things that matter. Things like taking a moment to say "I love you" or "I'm thinking about you", spending a few extra minutes with a loved one just to let them know you care, or giving just out of the kindness of your heart and expecting nothing in return stray far away from your mind because well... life is just moving so fast.
It's no secret that I've been struggling a bit with depression. I let you know that in my last post. A huge factor in what led to me spiraling is the overwhelming feeling of losing my purpose. Life had just been thrown at me so fast that I began questioning aspects of my life that were never in question before... and honestly when you're moving that fast, it's so easy to do.
A few weeks back, I was finishing up a shoot with my friend Teresa over at Luv Ya Style Boutique and I saw this couple taking photos with their family for prom. I looked at Teresa and said, "I should go ask them if they want a few pictures!"
I don't know what it was, but I felt that it was just something I needed to do. So Teresa and I said our goodbyes and I headed over and introduced myself and asked, "I'm a photographer and I was wondering if I could take a few pictures for you guys!"
The feeling I got when they accepted and as I was shooting their mini session reminded me of my purpose. It made me feel alive, it made me feel present, it made me realize how powerful it is to give without wanting a thing in return. The fact that I was able to make their prom that much more special really brought me so much joy and warmed my heart tremendously.
The smiles on their faces, the outpouring of appreciation and gratitude, the aura that was present in that alley as we captured their photos... like, words can not possibly explain what I'm feeling... even to this day. Shiella + Dylon, thank you so much for allowing me to capture such a special time for you guys. You have no idea the gift you gave me on that day! Just... thank you so much! There's truly a gift in giving! Have an amazing senior year!
