Love Yourself With All You Have
It's been a while since I wrote something so personal. I decided that this year, I would make it my mission to take time to spoil myself. Life moves so fast and some times we forget about what's important -- our families, friends, happiness, and taking care of ourselves.
Part of taking care of ourselves, is learning to love and accept ourselves. Something that, personally, I started doing just a few years ago.
Many of you may remember the open letter that I wrote to myself last year about loving and embracing myself. Well, it's certainly not an easy task. It's something that we have to keep reminding ourselves over and over again.
The amazing owners at Werk Chic Magazine and Hello Dreamers decided to start this year out by hosting a 31 Day Journal Challenge centered around self-acceptance. Of course, I saw that and decided to participate and I urge you to do the same. Even if it's less public than what I'm doing here on the blog. Pull out a tablet and write it out and save it for yourself.
So let's jump in...
Day One: What is Self-Acceptance To You?
Accepting yourself is simply loving yourself with all that you have. It's embracing every inch of yourself -- flaws and all. It's taking the time to do things that make you happy. It's looking at yourself and being proud of your path and who you've grown to be -- AND who you will grow to be. It's admitting you're wrong and growing from your mistakes. It's accepting the cards you've been dealt and making the best of the situation. It's taking pride in your accomplishments and your failures. It's loving yourself and seeing the beauty in yourself and your story.
I don't think it's possible to be able to fully love someone else until you are able love yourself. I don't think it's possible to be able to fully accept someone else until you are able to accept yourself. We can't continue to place limitations on how and when we love ourselves. We can't continue to tear ourselves apart based on what someone else thinks.
You never know true value until you value yourself. So disregard what anyone else has to say. The only person who knows who you are... is you!
