The Path To The Vision

Today was a day of reflection. I didn't wake up and think that today would be as beneficial as it has, in fact I thought quite the opposite.

Lately, I've been feeling like I've been living without a purpose. With so much stuff going on it is so easy to feel lost in a constant sea of madness and dysfunction -- quite frankly, I've been feeling like I've just been going through the motions. I've been feeling like I'm existing just to exist. I knew that couldn't be possible because for the past four months I've been the happiest I've been in a long time and I've been booking clients like a mad man...

The other day, I shared with you some concerns that I had been having with the youth team that I coach. Well today my advisor and I had a meeting with them and their parents about the direction that the team was going. We hashed everything out, we were able to get on the same page, and we finally set goals for ourselves.

I asked the girls what their goals were for our team, none of them were able to answer. That's when everything became apparent. How on earth were they going to be able to see my vision if they didn't know my vision and have similar goals.

When I got home, I began thinking about myself and realized that I hadn't set personal goals for myself or my business for the year. It dawned on me that even though I've been getting so much accomplished, I haven't seen anything that I've done because I haven't been able to reconnect with my vision because I haven't set any new goals.

I fully believe that our goals motivate and push us to consistently be better. They allow us to see where we've come from, what we've done, and where we're going. So I've made a vow to myself to set at least three personal and business goals for myself each week.

Personal Goals For This Week

  1. Get out and take photos for fun
  2. Talk to someone I haven't talked to in a while
  3. Have fun. Do something that excites me.

Business Goals For This Week

  1. Find 3 things on my website that needs fixing and fix it
  2. Brainstorm ideas on "Finding Me" Sessions for 2015
  3. Shoot more photos for the blog
  4. Pick back up on 100 Strangers

I started doing this a while back but I need to pick back up on it because I need to see what direction I'm going. As our businesses and lives are constantly changing, our paths to our vision is constantly changing. To reconnect with those things we need to update our goals and make steps to fulfilling that vision.
